Woodhall Manor :: Winter Wedding Photography for Gavin & Kathryn

Back at Woodhall Manor again! Our weddings have mainly been at Woodhall Manor of late and its a venue which offers so much and this time we got snow! I have wanted to shoot a snowy wedding for a long while ans I finally got my chance on the 19th of December - although I did panic a little about getting there!
Fortunately we got there fine and there was loads of snow around, which for the poor bridesmaids was not so much fun in their tiny ( if very pretty ) shoes - Kathryn on the other hand had a secret weapon and a large pair of boots with thick socks where hiding underneath that dress!
Gavin and Kathryn where great, the snow was great and I hope you think our pictures are great!

spot the boots!

Woodhall Manor :: Wedding Photography :: For Owen & Angela

Woodhall Manor played host to our first wedding of December for Owen and Angela on Saturday the 12th of December. Woodhall Manor is a great place for wedding photography especially when it is getting dark. We had bright sunlight before the service which provided some great lighting in the pre wedding images but after the service my first real rain of the year started to come down so for Owen and Angelas friends and family shots where done inside - by the time we got to Woodhall it had dried up but it was quite dark - but this is where a venue like Woodhall Manor comes into its own. Woodhall Manor looks really atmospheric at this time of year and using a combination of off camera flash and video lights we where really able to capture a Woodhall Manor wedding like never before.
Owen and Angela where perfect hosts for their wedding - choosing personalised gifts for all their guests and providing some truly stunning food and wines for their wedding guests including us which was just fantastic - thanks!

1.8 50mm - love it- it was dark in here!

Just love low winter sunlight!

The sun had gone but a splash of off camera flash!

Woodhall Manor :: Wedding Photography :: For Richard & Jess

On the 14th of November we were back at Woodhall Manor for the wedding of Richard and Jess. The day's wedding photography started in Felixstowe, Suffolk for the preparation shots. After the service in Felixstowe we traveled to Woodhall Manor and between the wind and showers we got a great set of images. The day was really dramatic as the wind was servere bringing down trees onto powerlines and cutting off the whole of Sutton Village and parts of Woodbridge. Fortunately Richard and Jess had opted for a candlelit reception so the lack of electric was not a problem in fact it resulted in one of the most fantastic atmospheres at a wedding with the staff of Woodhall Manor lighting the venue with hundreds and hundreds of candles!

Us at work

Over the year we have caught each other working in our shots, hopefully these images will give you an insight of how we go about our job. Often we shoot each other to get our exposures right, heres one of Dibb.

Dibb is just as good behind the camera so here are some of her at work!

Getting down and dirty!

I do work as well, here is one of me laying down on the job!

We get to work in some great locations, here we are at Fridays wedding for Matt and Amy with videographer Colin Sadler at the fantastic Gosfield Hall in Essex. We where shooting in the bridal suite which had the most amazing mirrors which we where ultilising in our pictures.

The beauty of wedding photography is that different locations need different approaches we recently shot a wedding for Marc and Sophia, they had just brought a house and where still in the process of moving in, Marc was getting ready there so that was my first location - this is what I first saw;

I hope they don't mind! After a quick resorting of furniture we where able to grab some great pre-wedding groom shots;

and Marc;

Its great to walk into a space which may not obviously lend itself to photography - it is one of the most satisfying things to turn ( and I quote Ghionis ) "turning the ordinary into the extraordinary!"

Leiston Abbey Wedding Photography for Steve and Carly

Leiston Abbey, one of the most unique wedding venues in Suffolk, provided a beautiful backdrop for the wedding of Steve and Carly. The ruins of the Abbey offer a unique setting for wedding photography offering a whole host of fantastic images of Steve and Carly. This was a really enjoyable wedding with a great couple.
